After breast augmentation, it is advisable to give up sport for two months.

For office work, it is possible to return to work after 3 to 4 days. However, it is easier to return to work one week after breast surgery, due to the postoperative pain. Activities requiring intensive use of the arms (e.g. hairdressing, massage, grooming) should be carried out 3 weeks after the operation.

The vast majority of breast augmentations are performed on an outpatient basis. This means that patients can go home the same day.

The procedure generally lasts an hour and a half.

We offer breast augmentation under deep sedation or general anesthesia.

In principle, every operation carries certain risks – such as infection or haematoma. The risk of infection is reduced to less than 1% at Clinique Bellefontaine, thanks to our various preventive measures ( No touch technique, antibiotics, … ). Specific complications can occur during this operation, although they are quite rare: implant slippage, implant rotation, double bubble. Loss of sensation in the nipple is very rare. Breast implants have evolved and improved over time. Because of their high quality and safety, the latest-generation breast implants should only be replaced in the event of complications. In the case of textured implants, it has been discovered that a rare tumor called ALCL can occur. With smooth implants, there have been no described cases of ALCL.

The price for breast augmentation with implants is 8,900 – with Motiva, round or anatomical implants. We attach great importance to a transparent pricing policy. Everything is included in the price, from the consultation to the operation, including post-operative consultations, post-operative medication and the appropriate bra. Ultrasound and/or mammography examinations prior to the operation are generally paid for by the health insurance company.

Our “specialty”: the ultra-short incision of 3 to 3.5 cm.

Thanks to the latest technology, the incision can now be extremely short. Through a short skin incision (3 to 3.5 cm) in the fold of the breast, Dr. Favre forms a pocket into which he inserts the breast implant. The implant is inserted in an absolutely sterile manner, without touching the skin, using Funnel Keller’s “funnel” technique.

Our “No Touch” Technique

Although breast augmentation with implants is a routine procedure, it is still a surgical operation. Like any other operation, it carries certain risks. The risk of infection is one of our greatest concerns.

Funnel Keller’s innovative “no touch” technique avoids touching the implant during insertion into the chest. This significantly reduces the risk of infection and tissue trauma, as well as post-operative pain.

As a further risk-reduction measure, we always wear two sterile gloves on top of each other during the operation. If there is a manufacturing defect, and therefore a small hole in the glove, the risk can be reduced to a minimum. In addition, during breast surgery, there is a risk of bacteria from the mammary gland passing from the inside to the outside via the nipple connection. At Clinique Bellefontaine in Lausanne, we can prevent this by masking the nipple with an impermeable patch after disinfecting the breast.

Breast implants in front of or behind the muscle: the dual plane technique?

It’s a question that always comes up during consultations, and is frequently asked by patients. Our aim is to simplify matters

Position in front of the muscle

For patients with thick subcutaneous tissue and a fold greater than 3 cm when the skin is pinched, the pre-muscular position is ideal. The implant is then perfectly concealed, and there is no need to position it behind the dual-plane muscle.

The position partly behind the muscle: dual plane

For patients with thick subcutaneous tissue and a fold greater than 3 cm when the skin is pinched, the pre-muscular position is ideal. The implant is then perfectly concealed, and there is no need to position it behind the dual-plane muscle.

General information

You decide: Breast augmentation with implants, fat or composite.breasts that are too small, slightly pendulous or asymmetrical can be corrected with implants. The latest prostheses have been developed and improved enormously in recent years. If the breast is corrected with implants, a small skin incision of 3 to 3.5 cm is usually made along the underside of the breast. To best meet your needs, we offer a wide range of prostheses that you can test before the operation. At Clinique Bellefontaine, you can have your breast augmented with a Motiva prosthesis, a round prosthesis or a teardrop-shaped “anatomical prosthesis” that adapts exactly to your breast – in other words, a made-to-measure breast augmentation. We generally recommend an augmentation of one to two cup sizes. This means that if you’re currently wearing a bra with an A cup, we can typically achieve a C cup by enlarging your breast. With more than 2 cup sizes, the subsequent risk of complications is higher. In addition to breast augmentation with implants, we also offer breast augmentation with injection of your own fat using the Beauli technique – breast lipofilling. For patients who do not wish to have implants in their body and would like to have a light to moderate augmentation, breast augmentation with autologous fat is the right method. In this procedure, we harvest your own fat cells by gentle “Body Jet” liposuction from one or more areas of the body and transplant them into the breast. In some cases, we can also offer composite breast augmentation, a technique that combines the two methods described above – implant and fat injection. Lipofilling involves injecting fat around the implant to conceal its contours and correct volume defects in the décolleté.

Treatment procedure
At the Bellefontaine Clinic

Before the procedure

During your initial consultation in Lausanne, we’ll make sure that breast augmentation with implants is the right indication for you. To this end, we clarify questions about your general state of health. To help you choose the right implant size and shape, several trial implant sizes are worn in a suitable bra, so you can decide which size and shape suits you best. A large mirror allows you to appreciate the future result. The size and type of breast implant are discussed, as well as the type of skin incision and implant position. A pre-operative ultrasound and/or mammogram is standard, and smoking cessation is strongly advised 3 weeks before and 3 weeks after breast augmentation in Lausanne.

During the procedure

During breast augmentation with prostheses in Lausanne, a 3 to 3.5 cm skin incision is made along the underside of the breast, the breast tissue is lifted, a pocket is formed and finally a breast implant is inserted. Breast implants can be placed under the pectoral muscle or under the mammary gland above the pectoral muscle. The choice of implant location depends on a number of factors: the size of your breasts prior to surgery, the shape of your breasts, the elasticity of your skin, the thickness of the fatty layer and the type of implant. The procedure lasts approximately 1 to 2 hours and is performed under general anesthesia.

After the procedure

You can go home the same day as your operation in Lausanne. Prophylactic antibiotics and painkillers must be taken for 7 days. These medications are included in the package. If the implant is placed under the chest muscle, pain may be more pronounced during the first two weeks. For a few weeks, sensation in the breast may be altered. Some patients return to work 3 to 4 days after the operation. There is no medical reason why this should not be done, as long as the work is office-based. The dressing is changed after one week. The patient must wear a Marena ® sports bra at all times for 8 weeks until the swelling subsides and the scars heal. Light physical activity can be resumed after just a few days. Sport can be resumed after 8 weeks. To make the scar as invisible as possible, scar treatment should be started after three weeks. Special scar-treatment ointments should be applied three times a day. Massage helps the cream to be absorbed. We also recommend wearing silicone bandages, ideally for three to six months. As long as the scar is red or pink, you should protect it from the sun. If you have any questions, you can always call us personally on our emergency number.

FAQ

How do I know which breast implant size is right for me?

During the consultation, Dr. Favre attaches great importance to understanding exactly what you want. By precisely measuring the anatomy of your breasts and taking your wishes into account, the width of an implant is first defined. For each determined width, there are different projections. The projection determines the distance to which your breasts will then be advanced. The patient then tests different “volumes” in a suitable bra to project the final breast volume after augmentation. A perfectly normal effect 3 months after breast augmentation is to feel that you should have chosen a larger size. This is because you quickly get used to your new size after the operation, and your breasts subjectively appear less voluminous. On rare occasions, clients who have had their breasts augmented still find that they are too small and wish to have them augmented again. In such cases, we try to find a solution tailored to your needs.

How can I find the right breast implant for me?

In principle, there are three implant shapes: The anatomical shape, also known as the teardrop shape, the round shape and an ergonomix intermediate shape between the round and anatomical shapes. Round implants create more volume in the upper pole, while drop-shaped implants create a more natural transition. The final shape of your breasts after breast augmentation also depends very much on your anatomy.

What are the advantages and/or disadvantages of anatomical, round and ergonomic breast implants?

Anatomical teardrop-shaped implants have the advantage of offering a more natural transition, mainly for the upper pole, and give a very natural appearance. They have the disadvantage of a higher risk of shell formation, as they have a rough surface texture. There is also a risk of rotation, which may occur mainly in the first few weeks. Ergonomix implants (intermediate shape between round and anatomical) give a more rounded appearance on the upper and lower parts of the breast. There is no risk of rotation, and the risk of shell is extremely low with this type of implant.
