General information
Tattoos, as body worship and works of art, are not always timeless. The little butterfly on the ankle, Asian signs along the spine or the name of a once-loved person: not all tattoos seem destined to last forever. The Picoplus laser is the latest generation laser system for tattoo removal. Using targeted laser beams, the ink particles in the skin are reduced to tiny pieces, which can then be flushed out of the body through the lymphatic fluid. The decisive factor for successful treatment is the wavelength of the laser, which must be matched to the color (wavelength spectrum) of the color pigments. Black and dark blue tattoos are particularly easy to remove. Compared to previous Laser Pico models, the PicoPlus laser, with its ultra-short energy pulses, removes tattoos faster, safer and more effectively. With light pulses 100 times faster, the PicoPlus laser delivers results that are not only faster, but also more effective than the Q-switched Nd:YAG laser used to date, for example. What’s more, there are fewer side effects. Unlike traditional laser models, the PicoPlus laser requires an average of just 6 treatments. Significant lightening is already visible after the first treatment. The amount of pigment actually removed by the body during each treatment can only be determined after around three weeks.★power, ★accuracy and ★speed

Treatment procedure
At the Bellefontaine Clinic
Before the procedure
Beforehand, you will be given an in-depth consultation to find out how laser treatment works, and what the benefits and risks are. An individual treatment plan will then be drawn up for you. Laser tattoo removal requires several individual sessions, which we carry out at intervals of around 6 to 8 weeks. The best results are achieved with untanned skin, so you should avoid sun exposure to the treatment area between treatments. At the time of treatment, there should be no inflammation in the treatment area. If you are prone to herpetic infections, talk to your doctor before treatment. If you have a tendency to develop pathological scars (keloids, hypertrophic scars, etc.), please inform us. An anaesthetic cream can be applied prior to treatment.
During the procedure
Customers are invited to change and settle down on a comfortable table. We provide towels and protective eyewear to wear during the session. Laser light is then directed at the area to be treated and a short pulse of directed light (laser) is released. The sensation of treatment varies from person to person, but is often described as a rapid tingling, discomfort accompanied by a feeling of warmth.
After the procedure
Direct exposure to the sun should be avoided for about 8 weeks after treatment. Occasional bleeding, the size of a scratch or blister, may occur after treatment, but this is completely normal. However, they are much less severe than with traditional laser methods. In any case, the bandage we apply must remain on the treated area for at least 24 hours. During the first week, it’s also important not to touch the treated area, and to avoid contact with shower gel. At the end of the session, we apply a cream to the treated area.
Risks and side effects
After tattoo laser treatment, the treated skin may initially swell or blister, but this risk is significantly reduced with the picosecond laser. As with any laser treatment, scars and/or pigmentation disorders may remain. During laser treatment, it is important to protect your eyes to avoid any damage. Appropriate eyewear will be provided during treatment.
FAQ
What should I look out for before getting a tattoo removed?
Before laser tattoo treatment, it’s important that you’re not too tanned, and that the tattoo is not too recent.
Is there a difference between a new tattoo and an old one??
The difference between newer and older tattoos is that older tattoos are in part already more faded, and the color pigments have also already risen to the surface a little more. The color of a recent tattoo is much more intense, which is why the reaction to laser treatment is generally stronger in this case. An old, discolored tattoo also requires fewer laser sessions.
What colors can be removed during a tattoo removal procedure?
In general, all colors can be removed with tattoo removal, but it’s important to note that darker colors generally remove better than lighter shades. White, yellow and pink colors present the greatest challenge in treatment, due to the absence of color pigments.
