General information
Over time, the skin’s aging process and exposure to UV rays can lead to the appearance of irregular pigmentation, age spots and fine lines on the skin. With modern Picoplus laser technologies, we can eliminate these pigmentation and age spots. This leads to skin renewal: new skin cells are formed, so that old tissue is gradually replaced by fresh tissue. As a rule, only one treatment session is required.
Pain
Another advantage of the latest Picoplus laser technology for the removal of pigmentation and age spots is that it is less painful to use than traditional laser technologies. Clinique Bellefontaine works with the latest pain management options, such as local cooling, anesthetic cream or even laughing gas, enabling patients to experience significantly less pain during treatment.

Treatment procedure
At the Bellefontaine Clinic
Before the procedure
Beforehand, you will be given an in-depth consultation to find out how laser treatment works, and what the benefits and risks are. An individual treatment plan will then be drawn up for you. The best results are achieved with untanned skin, so you should avoid sun exposure to the treatment area between treatments. At the time of treatment, there should be no inflammation in the treatment area. If you are prone to herpetic infections, talk to your doctor before treatment. If you have a tendency to develop pathological scars (keloids, hypertrophic scars, etc.), please inform us. An anaesthetic cream can be applied prior to treatment.
During the procedure
Customers are invited to change and settle down on a comfortable table. We provide towels and protective eyewear to wear during the session. The laser light is then directed at the area to be treated and a short pulse of directed light (laser) is released. The sensation of treatment varies from person to person, but is often described as a rapid tingling, discomfort accompanied by a feeling of warmth.
After the procedure
Direct exposure to the sun should be avoided for about 8 weeks after treatment. Some redness and swelling may appear after treatment, but this is completely normal. However, they are much less severe than with traditional laser methods. At the end of the session, we apply a cream to the treated area.
Risks and side effects
After tattoo laser treatment, the treated skin may initially swell, be reddened and rarely blister, but this risk is significantly reduced with picosecond laser treatment. As with any laser treatment, scars and/or pigmentation disorders may remain. During laser treatment, it’s important to protect your eyes to avoid any damage – you’ll be issued with suitable eyewear during treatment.
