Before the procedure

Before injecting botulinum toxin, please inform us if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, if you are taking medications such as anticoagulants or antibiotics, or if you have any nervous or muscular disorders.

During the procedure

For your comfort, you receive an anesthetic cream in the area to be injected. The botulinum toxin injection session is then carried out in a room adapted to this treatment, where cleanliness and aseptic conditions are required. Puncture points are marked out on cleansed and disinfected skin. The botulinum toxin is precisely injected into the muscle by Dr. med. Yann Favre with a very fine injection needle. Only approved and guaranteed products are used at Bellefontaine. The treatment lasts from 10 to 30 minutes. Small pink, swollen areas appear at the injection points and disappear after 15 minutes.

After the procedure

You can then return to your work or daily activities immediately afterwards. Avoid rubbing or massaging the treated areas after treatment. You should also avoid sports and make-up for 24 hours after the injection. If necessary, a check-up with an additional injection is offered 15 days after treatment. The effect of the treatment begins 2 to 5 days after the injection and is maximal 15 days after the injection. The more the molecule is used, the less it is necessary to use it, thus reducing the frequency of injections over time.

General information

Botulinum toxin restores a calm, relaxed look to the face, leaving facial features less drawn. Botulinum toxin is mainly used for wrinkles caused by facial expressions. These include frown lines and crow’s feet. Fillers or hyaluronic acid are suitable for treating deep wrinkles (e.g. nasolabial folds) or small wrinkles that have already set in (e.g. lip lines, cheek wrinkles). What is botulinum toxin? Botulinum toxin is a drug produced from a natural bacterial protein. Botulinum toxin has been used in ophthalmology and neurology for over 25 years. It has also been used in aesthetic medicine for many years. Botulinum toxin is most often used to treat expression lines such as frown lines, or excessive sweating under the arms. The botulinum toxin products we use are not tested on animals.
